James “Skinny” Edward Morgan was born on January 14, 1965, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at General Hospital (now the University of Cincinnati Medical Center), to Geraldine Morgan and James Carter. He was the fourth of six children, and from an early age, James showed a strong sense of responsibility, independence, and heart for service.
Skinny had a lifelong love of working, a value instilled in him as a child. One of his earliest jobs was at Findlay Market and Ollie’s Trolley, which remained close to his heart, as he continued working there up until the time of his passing. Even after facing disability later in life, James remained proud of his work ethic and the relationships he built through honest labor.
In his leisure time, Skinny found peace and joy in fishing, which was one of his favorite pastimes. He also deeply enjoyed music, cooking, sports, playing the lottery, and most of all, serving others. Skinny was happiest when he could help someone or share what he had. In his earlier years, he was known as a sharp dresser, always taking pride in his appearance and personal style.
Skinny cherished time spent with close friends and family, creating memories filled with laughter, conversation, and love. His presence was steady and genuine, and he will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and loyalty to those he cared about.
Skinny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Geraldine Morgan and James Carter; his oldest brother, William “Popeye” Morgan; and his beloved relatives aunt Essie Johnson, uncle Freddie "Sonny" Sanders, and uncle Henry Morgan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter: Geraldine Williams; six grandchildren, Deanizia, Orlando, Ormya, Bomani, Deamia, and Al'cere who brought him great joy and pride; and his devoted siblings: Ronnie Morgan, Sharon Harris, Johnny Morgan, and Anthony Morgan.
Skinny is also survived by his loving nieces: Crystal Robinson, Chanelle Morgan, Teddi Morgan, and Ariel Samara Jones; and his nephews: William “Corey” Stovall, Antonio Winslow, Jerry Tolbert Morgan, Antiano Morgan, Johnny Morgan, Jamal Morgan, Jonnell Morgan, Donnie Nelson, and Kelvin Nelson.
He also leaves behind a significant other, special friends, and a host of other relatives and loved ones who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
James "Skinny" Edward Morgan lived a life defined by hard work, quiet generosity, and love for family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the memories that will be treasured always.
