With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Jewell (Guyton) Sanderson, who departed from this life at her home in Springfield, Ohio. Born on June 13, 1939, in Hamilton, Alabama, Jewell Sanderson was the beloved daughter of Edgar and Perlie Lillie (May) Guyton.
Jewell devoted much of her life to caring deeply for her family and community. She worked diligently at sewing factories in Guin, Alabama, and International Harvestor in Rock Island, Illinois. Beyond her work, she was a nurturing homemaker, a dedicated harvester, and tended lovingly to her garden, where her passion for all colors truly blossomed.
For 57 years, Jewell shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Rayburn Sanderson, Sr. Together, they raised a loving family, including their children LaJanice Sanderson, Tammy Sanderson, Becky Bowers, Rayburn Sanderson, Jr., and Patsey Sanderson. Her legacy lives on through a host of cherished grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Pearlie, her sister Ruby Hawkins, and her brother Virgil Hawkins.
Today, we celebrate Jewell’s life — a life marked by love, dedication, and vibrant spirit. She will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know her. May her memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all her family and friends.
