Karen Louise Barger, a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, left this world on July 16th, 2025, in the comforting embrace of her beloved family by her side at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Born on August 15th, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina, and later making her home in Cincinnati, Ohio, Karen’s life was a testament to the beauty of kindness and the strength of family.
From her early years, she was known for her bubbly spirit and infectious laughter, captivating the hearts of those around her. A dedicated registered nurse and talented realtor, Karen poured her energy and warmth into caring for others, embodying the very essence of compassion and dedication. She believed in the power of a well-chosen outfit to brighten someone’s day, always reminding those she met to look their best, for you never know who you might encounter.
Family was everything to Karen. She is cherished by her daughter, Ashley E. Dunn, and her son, Michael R. Barger. She found joy in being a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren—Ari and Arquawn Jones, and Charlotte Sawyer—whose smiles brought her boundless joy. Her loving sisters, Lori Dameron and Jennifer Wendel, stood by her side through both laughter and tears, forging bonds that time could never break.
Karen joins her deceased family members in eternal rest: her devoted husband, James Barger, and her parents, Charlotte and James Naegele, who surely welcomed her with open arms. Their absence will be filled with the memories of her love and laughter.
The celebration of Karen’s remarkable life will take place at Covenant-First Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. A visitation will be held on July 28th, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Amidst the sorrow of her absence, those who gather will share stories of a woman who touched countless lives with her generosity, spirit, and unwavering love.
