Levi Walker, 77, of Tallulah, Lousiana passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025. He was born April 28, 1948 to his late parents Henry and Ruth Walker. Growing up in Isola, Mississippi where farming was the largest industry; as an adolescent child, he and his seven siblings along with parents worked in the fields chopping and handpicking cotton. Frustrated with his environment, later in his teenage years, he departed Mississippi to Pedro, Ohio and enrolled into the local Job Corps to pursue a trade in heavy machinery. After completing his course of study, he briefly returned to the family home located in Indianola, Mississippi to realize the lack of employment opportunities wasn’t sustainable. Levi diligently pursued “greener pastures” and secured an entry level position in November, 1968 with Proctor and Gamble and remained employed until his retirement in March, 2001.
Levi enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, an avid card player (Spades) and the outdoors including fishing. Most would describe his humor as quiet and subtle. He had a deep admiration for his fellow Mississippians B.B. King, Muddy Water and Little Milton for their superb guitar playing and song writing. Summer weekend mornings was common for their music to be heard on his personal juke box while landscaping in the yard or working on the family vehicles in the driveway. He will truly be missed and celebrated by the many lives he impacted and leaves to mourn a host of close family and friends.
Levi was preceded in transition by his loving wife Diane Walker (December 2024), eldest brother Leroy Walker, sisters Luevira Walker Johnson, and Lillie Walker Caldwell. He is survived by his children Terry, Terrell, Michael, Leesha and Stephanie Walker; beloved grandchildren: Tiera Walker, Tyra and Marcea Harrow, and Terrell Walker Jr.; great-grandchildren, Majesty and Messiah Shelton, along with Kai Ulmer; siblings: Dorothy Smith (J.C. deceased), Betty Williams (Jim), Mary Jane Moore (Billy, deceased), and Lucille Walker.
