Mildred Carmen Abbott

Mildred Carmen Abbott, 88, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away after a prolonged illness, to be with the Lord on May 22, 2025. She was born

December 24, 1936, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Reverend Lee Arthur Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Rice. Mildred graduated from

Springfield High School in Springfield, Ohio. Mildred was a nurse who worked extensively with patients in hospice care. She then worked at

the Thermometer Corporation of America. She retired after 25 years of service. Mildred was a member of New Fair Street Christian Church

where she sang for many years in the choir. During her retirement years, she enjoyed attending church, singing songs, cooking, playing

games of checkers, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members. During her older years, she

went to live at Southbrook Nursing Home in Springfield, Ohio. At Southbrook, she was involved in many activities, from attending

church onsite, holiday parties, and playing bingo on a regular basis. The staff and patients at Southbrook loved her, and she was well

taken care of. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her children: Vivian (Eric) Bruce of Newark, Ohio, Gregory Abbott of Springfield,

Ohio and Eric (Felicia) Abbott of Columbus, Ohio, her grandchildren: Moncada Abbott, Malika Cobb, Ashley Woods, Vincent (Hannah)

Bruce, Allen (Mary) Bruce, and Ryan Bruce, her great-grandchildren; Shaunee Hancock, Myrissa Livingston, and Robbie Bruce. She also

leaves a host of many cousins and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Lee Arthur Sr. and Elizabeth Rice, her

husband, Cleveland G. Abbott, her children, Anita Abbott, Karen Abbott, and Mark Abbott, her sister, Betty Jordan, and her brothers, Lee

(Sonny) Rice Jr. and Robert Rice.
