In Loving Memory of Robin Jamaal Rogers Jones

February 23, 1987 – July 5, 2026

With profound sadness and immeasurable love, we celebrate the life of Robin Jamaal Rogers Jones, affectionately known as Jamaal by those closest to him. To family and friends, he was always Jamaal—a name lovingly used to distinguish him from his father, with whom he proudly shared his first name.

Jamaal passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 39. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will be felt forever by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on February 23, 1987, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robin Dale Jones and Dianne Marie Burroughs Jones, Jamaal was the cherished only son in a family that loved him deeply. Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, he was truly a gentle giant. His physical presence was unmistakable, but it was his enormous heart that people remembered most.

Jamaal was known for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and the way he would become completely tickled by life’s simple moments. His laughter was contagious, his smile was welcoming, and his sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel comfortable, valued, and loved.

Kindness defined Jamaal. He possessed a gentle spirit and a compassionate heart that knew no limits. Slow to judge and always willing to see the best in people,he extended grace freely and believed everyone deserved understanding. He would give his last to someone in need without a second thought, offering encouragement, support, and love wherever he went.

Above all else, Jamaal loved his family fiercely and unapologetically. Nothing brought him greater pride or happiness than being a father. His beloved daughter, Jessica, was the center of his world and the light of his life. He lovingly called her his “Princess,” and every decision he made was rooted in the deep love he had for her. Becoming her father was one of the greatest blessings of his life.

Jamaal graduated from Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Illinois, and continued his education at Southern Illinois University. While his path eventually led him beyond the classroom, he discovered his true calling in serving others. He founded Project: Change the World, a nonprofit initiative created to raise awareness and support for charitable organizations making a difference across the globe. Through the project, Jamaal worked to connect people with causes they cared about, promoting organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, CARE, Special Olympics, and many others. Helping people was never simply something Jamaal did—it was who he was.

Jamaal loved being around people. Whether sharing stories, making everyone laugh, lending a helping hand, or simply spending time with those he loved, he made every gathering brighter. Whether it was a birthday, graduation, holiday, family reunion, or one of life’s smaller celebrations, Jamaal believed in showing up for the people he loved. He was known for greeting family and friends with his signature bear hugs that made everyone feel like they belonged. He rarely ended a conversation without saying, “I love you.” Those words were more than a habit—they were a reflection of the way he lived. He also enjoyed attending Cincinnati Bengals games and cheering them on each season, sharing his love of football with family and friends.

Jamaal was preceded in death by his father, Robin Dale Jones; his paternal grandparents, Adrienne Jones and Robert Jones; and his maternal grandfather, William Perry Burroughs Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his precious daughter, Jessica Jones; his devoted mother, Dianne Marie Burroughs Jones; his loving sisters, Kara Jones and Jittaun Jones (Farid); his loving grandmother, Nancy Pullum Rutledge; his cherished nephews, Jibril and Mika Alhadi; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends whose lives were forever changed by his kindness and love.

Although our hearts ache with his absence, we are grateful for the gift of Jamaal’s life. He showed us what it meant to love without condition, to laugh often, to serve selflessly, and to leave every person feeling a little more seen and a little more loved.

Our beloved Jamaal was taken from us far too soon, but his legacy of compassion, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in every life he touched. We will forever carry his spirit in our hearts and honor his memory by loving others as deeply as he loved us.
